Look who will be at Topanemus this summer!

Meet the Friendly Folks who are dedicated to your child.

Elaine
Elaine Geiger, Vice President of Camps

Elaine earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Rider University. She began her YMCA career over 20 years ago. She has worked in various different Child Care Centers and Day Camps. This will be Elaine’s 3rd summer at Topanemus.

“Camp is a safe place for young people to learn about nature and the environment, challenge themselves, learn new skills and develop new friendships.”
Kyle
Kyle Flanagan, Camp Program Director

Kyle earned his Bachelor's in Architectural Studies and his Master's in Business Administration at Philadelphia University. He is the newest member of Camp Topanemus, bringing his 9 years of experience from camp at the Hamilton Area YMCA at Sawmill and coaching various teams, including the Special Olympics of NJ.

“Summer camp is a necessity because of the important role nature plays in healthy child development.”

meg
Megan McVay, Special Events Director

Megan earned her B.S. in Special Education from Monmouth University and has been working at Topanemus for 3 years. She has been a part of the Y team since she joined our After Care Department n 2006.

“I believe in camping because kids need someone else in their life besides their parents who can accept who they are and inspire their future.”
pam
Pam Slifer, Camp Nurse

Pam has many years of nursing behind her, with six of those years at Topanemus. Working with the YMCA has been her favorite, and summer means “camp” to her.

“Camp is a place to meet new friends and do special things that you can’t do anywhere else.”

Bill
William Engelhardt, Sports Coordinator

Bill earned his B.A. in Psychology from Stockton College and has worked in our After School Care Department for 16 years. Bill has been a part of the Topanemus team for 2 years.

"At Topanemus kids learn who they are and who they want to be in a fun environment.”
Julie
Julie Wootton, Travel Camp Director

Julie teaches 5th grade during the school year. She began working at Topanemus when her son began attending as a camper many years ago.

“Summer camping helps kids stay focused and move in the right direction. Camp is a world you take with you wherever you go.”

Joe D
Joe Dirago, Camp Property Manager

Joe joined the Camp team in 2007, right before the season began. He quickly proved himself to be a “Jack of All Trades,” able to fix and build anything! Joe maintains the property and ensures that all areas are clean and meet the highest standards. Joe is also solely responsible for camp’s most exciting feature; Topanemus Falls!

“Campers build lifelong friendships, gain confidence, develop interests and skills, become more independent and in short - discover the best in themselves.”
